Epoch 48V 150Ah Golf Cart Battery Complete Kit
A complete 48V golf cart lithium conversion kit: the 150Ah battery, a 48V 22A onboard lithium charger with a 10 ft heavy-duty extension cord, a digital Bluetooth battery gauge, a 6 ft remote on/off power switch, a fused 48V to 12V step-down converter, a cart-specific charge port plug, cart-specific mounting brackets and free Bluetooth app access.
The Epoch 48V 150Ah golf cart battery complete kit (model BB51150A-Kit-1, Big Box Series) converts a compatible 48V golf cart from lead-acid to lithium without sourcing every part separately. One 51.2V (48V class), 150Ah, 7.68kWh LiFePO4 battery replaces a full bank of 8V or 12V lead-acid batteries. The kit adds a 48V 22A onboard lithium charger with a 10 ft heavy-duty extension cord, a digital Bluetooth battery gauge, a 6 ft remote on/off power switch with wiring harness, a fused 48V to 12V step-down converter rated 25A with a key-on wire, a cart-specific charge port plug to replace the factory charging receptacle, mounting brackets for your cart configuration (EZGO TXT or Other) and free access to the Epoch Li-Ion app.
Choose EZGO TXT for an EZGO TXT cart: its brackets and charge port plug are matched to the cart. Choose Other for another compatible 48V cart, and confirm tray space for the 19.84 × 15.35 × 9.84 in case, mounting, cable routing and charge-port wiring before installation.
A Complete Lithium Conversion for 48V Carts
Replace a lead-acid bank with one 150Ah LiFePO4 golf cart battery.
This kit replaces a full bank of 8V or 12V lead-acid batteries with a single 51.2V (48V class) 150Ah LiFePO4 battery. The result is one battery instead of a bank, and no watering or acid service; routine inspections of the terminals, cables and mounting still keep it operating safely.
With 300A continuous discharge, 500A for up to 15 seconds and 1,000A for up to 2 seconds, it supports acceleration, hills and upgraded controllers and motors whose current demand fits the battery ratings. Before installing, confirm your cart is a compatible 48V platform, that the battery bay fits the 19.84 × 15.35 × 9.84 in case, and check terminal clearance, cable size, overcurrent protection and the controller's current settings.
What's in the Box
The core conversion components in one kit.
Instead of sourcing a battery, charger, extension cord, gauge, remote switch, converter, charge port and brackets separately, the kit brings the main conversion components together. The listed kit contents do not include a main fuse or DC-rated breaker: install one selected for the wire, load and system voltage, as close as practical to the battery positive terminal, and make sure the cables and lugs are sized for your installation.
| 12V converter wiring (from the converter label) | |
|---|---|
| Yellow · 40–90V+ | Input positive, from the 48V system |
| Black · 40–90V− | Input negative, from the 48V system |
| Orange · KEY ON+ | Key-switch (enable) input |
| Red · 13.5V+ | Output positive, to 12V accessories |

Why upgrade your golf cart to lithium?
One battery instead of a bank, and no watering or acid service.
LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) is a lithium-ion chemistry valued for thermal stability and long cycle life. Its voltage stays nearly flat across most of the discharge, and the battery needs no watering or acid service, only routine inspections.
Charging and everyday use
How the included charger, gauge and on/off switch work day to day.
- ✓ Charge with the included 48V 22A onboard lithium charger: plug the included 10 ft heavy-duty extension cord into the cart's charge port and a standard 120V AC outlet. Lead-acid chargers use different profiles and will not properly charge or balance a LiFePO4 battery. Club Car carts with an On-Board Computer (OBC) may need an OBC bypass.
- ✓ Charge after each day's use, or at least once a week with occasional use, and avoid letting the state of charge fall below 20%.
- ✓ The battery charges whether its on/off switch is on or off. When it is full, the state of charge resets to 100% and the gauge reads 100%. If the charger stays connected, it restarts when the state of charge drops below about 95%.
- ✓ Disconnect the charger once the battery is full, and turn the battery off when the cart is not in use.
- ✓ There is no internal heater: the BMS blocks charging outside 0°C to 55°C (32°F to 131°F), so let a cold battery warm above freezing before charging.
- ✓ On/off: press the 6 ft remote on/off switch once to turn the battery on (the switch LED and gauge light up) and again to turn it off; disconnecting the harness also turns it off. The battery is on when either the switch on the case or the remote switch is on; to turn it off, both switches must be off.
- ✓ Automatic shutdown: with no discharge, the battery turns off after 7 days above 20% SOC, or after 24 hours at or below 20% SOC. Press the on/off switch twice to restart.
- ✓ Low-charge warning: below 20% SOC, the buzzer sounds and the gauge shows a warning. Charge as soon as possible.
- ✓ Power-down recovery: if any cell falls below 2.2V or the pack to about 38V, switch the battery on, then connect the charger immediately.
- ✓ Long-term storage: keep the state of charge between 60% and 90%, turn the battery off and store it dry at 10–35°C (50–95°F) where practical. Check the state of charge at least every 3 months and recharge as needed.
Gauge warnings and buzzer
The BMS reports alarms and protection events on the gauge, with the buzzer and in the app.
An alarm is an early warning; a protection event means the BMS has limited or stopped charging or discharging. Alarms beep 1 s on and 1 s off; protection events beep 0.2 s on and 0.2 s off. If the buzzer sounds while driving, slow down or stop and check the battery.
| Gauge display | Cause | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WARNING2 / 4 | Cell / pack low voltage | Not shown while charging |
| WARNING5 | Large cell-voltage difference | — |
| WARNING6 | Over-discharge | — |
| WARNING7 | Charging over-current | Not shown while charging |
| WARNING8 / 9 | Over-temperature / low temperature | Not shown while charging |
| WARNING10 | Large temperature difference | — |
| WARNING11 | Low SOC: 11–20% alarm; 0–10% protection | Not shown while charging |
| WARNING14 | External communication failure | — |
| No display | Cell or pack over-voltage | No buzzer |
Low-voltage or low-charge warning: stop and charge the battery. Temperature warning: stop, let the battery return to its operating range, and check for blocked airflow or heavy sustained loads. Over-current warning: reduce the load and check the controller's current settings. Detection faults, MOSFET faults or a persistent cell-unbalance alarm: stop using the battery and contact Epoch support with the app screen and the gauge display.
Installation and safety
Verify your cart and configuration before installation.
Only authorized mechanics or technicians should install the battery. Confirm your cart is a compatible 48V platform and verify tray fitment (the 19.84 × 15.35 × 9.84 in case plus cable clearance), bracket configuration (EZGO TXT or Other), the controller's continuous and peak current settings, cable routing, OBC requirements, charge-port and accessory wiring and charger installation.
- Turn off the cart and all accessories, disconnect the cables safely and remove the original lead-acid batteries.
- Fasten the cart-specific bracket in the compartment as the base, and install the charger in the compartment.
- Replace the cart's factory charging receptacle with the supplied cart-specific charge port plug; this step is required for safety.
- Mount the digital gauge and the remote on/off switch on the dashboard, and route the 6 ft wiring harness. For stretched carts that need more reach, use the 13 ft Extended Harness for LiMAX Big Box (sold separately).
- Set the battery in the compartment and fasten it to the bracket base.
- Connect the battery terminals to the charger's leads and to the cart's positive and negative cables, observing polarity.
- Install the 12V converter: connect its key-on (enable) wire to the cart's key switch and its output to the 12V accessory circuits.
- Connect the harness to the battery communication port, on/off switch, gauge and charger; switch on and confirm the gauge shows the state of charge. If it is low, charge before first use.
- ✓ Install a main fuse or DC-rated breaker as close as practical to the battery positive terminal. The internal BMS does not replace external overcurrent protection for the wiring.
- ✓ Size loads, conductors and overcurrent protection to the 300A continuous rating; the 500A and 1,000A ratings apply for up to 15 and 2 seconds only.
- ✓ Deep-cycle battery, not cranking-rated.
- ✓ Confirm polarity and voltage with a multimeter before the final connection. Tighten the terminal hardware to the torque Epoch specifies for this battery, and keep the terminal covers installed.
- ✓ Install the battery upright, secured with the supplied brackets, and keep the vent clear; allow extra space for terminal hardware, cable bend radius and service removal. Damage from an unsecured or improperly secured battery is excluded from warranty coverage.
- ✓ Battery banks: parallel only, up to 2 matched batteries of this model of similar age, condition and firmware, at the same state of charge. Never connect in series, and never mix with lead-acid batteries or other models.
- ✓ IP67 covers dust and temporary immersion only (1 m, 30 min); it is not rated for water jets or pressure washing. Keep the communication port and harness connectors sealed, and inspect the battery after any immersion.
- ✓ Never connect the terminals together or let tools or jewelry bridge them. Stop using the battery if it is swollen, leaking, smoking, unusually hot or damaged, and follow the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) listed under Downloadable resources.
- ✓ Before first use, confirm the model on the battery label, complete the first charge and check that the app shows no active faults.
- ✓ Register the battery within 90 days, or keep your proof of purchase, to confirm your coverage start date.
Maintenance schedule
No watering or acid service; routine inspections keep it operating safely.
| Inspection intervals | |
|---|---|
| Before each use | Inspect the case, terminals, cables, fuses, disconnects and mounting hardware |
| Monthly during active use | Check terminal tightness, cable condition, app status and resting voltage |
| At least every 3 months in storage | Check the state of charge and recharge as needed |
| Annually | Inspect torque, wiring layout, protection devices, battery tray, ventilation and charger settings |
| After any fault or impact | Stop use, inspect for damage, record the app data and contact support as needed |

48V 150Ah Lithium Golf Cart Kit FAQs
Common questions about fitment, included components, charging, 12V accessories, range and care.
Will this kit fit my golf cart?
The kit comes in two bracket configurations: EZGO TXT, with brackets and a charge port plug matched to the cart, and Other for other compatible 48V carts. The battery case is 19.84 × 15.35 × 9.84 in (504 × 390 × 250 mm) and weighs 135 lb (61 kg); confirm tray space and cable clearance, mounting, cable routing, charge-port wiring and your controller's current settings before installation.
Which configuration should I choose?
Choose EZGO TXT for an EZGO TXT cart: its brackets and charge port plug are matched to the cart. For any other compatible 48V cart, choose Other and confirm tray space, mounting, cable routing and charge-port wiring.
What comes in the box?
The 48V 150Ah LiFePO4 battery, a 48V 22A onboard lithium charger with a 10 ft heavy-duty extension cord, a digital Bluetooth battery gauge, a 6 ft remote on/off power switch with wiring harness, a fused 48V to 12V step-down converter (25A) with a key-on wire, a cart-specific charge port plug that replaces the factory charging receptacle, cart-specific mounting brackets (EZGO TXT or Other) and free access to the Epoch Li-Ion app. The listed kit contents do not include a main fuse or DC-rated breaker; install one close to the battery positive terminal.
Can I still use my old lead-acid golf cart charger?
No. Lead-acid chargers use different charging profiles and will not properly charge or balance a LiFePO4 battery. The kit includes a 48V 22A onboard lithium charger; Club Car carts with an On-Board Computer (OBC) may need an OBC bypass. Never use lead-acid equalization, desulfation or repair modes on this battery.
How long does it take to charge?
About 7 hours from empty with the included 48V 22A charger (an estimate: 150Ah ÷ 22A, plus final absorption). Charge after each day's use, or at least once a week with occasional use.
How do I plug in to charge?
Through the included cart-specific charge port plug, which replaces the factory charging receptacle. Plug the 10 ft heavy-duty extension cord that comes with the charger into the port and a standard 120V AC outlet; the port passes AC power to the onboard 48V 22A lithium charger. The charger, not the port plug, sets the LiFePO4 charge profile.
What does the digital gauge show?
The dash-mounted digital gauge shows the state of charge from 0 to 100%, battery voltage, current and temperature, and shows warnings when the BMS raises an alarm. The kit also includes free access to the Epoch Li-Ion app for iOS and Android, which connects over Bluetooth to show battery status on your phone and install firmware updates over the air.
Will the remote on/off switch reach the dash on a stretched cart?
The included remote on/off power switch comes on a 6 ft harness. For stretched carts, where the battery sits farther from the dash, add the 13 ft Extended Harness for LiMAX Big Box (sold separately). Route the harness along protected frame paths and do not splice or daisy-chain it.
How do I power my 12V headlights and radio with a 48V battery?
Through the included fused 48V to 12V step-down converter. Connect its key-on (enable) wire to the cart's key switch so it turns on with the key, and its output to the 12V accessory circuits. It delivers a regulated 13.5V output from a 40–90V input and supports up to 25A, so keep the total 12V accessory load within 25A. Two of its wires are black, input and output negative: confirm which is which before connecting.
Do I need to bypass the OBC on my Club Car?
If you install the kit in a Club Car that uses an older On-Board Computer (OBC) to control the original lead-acid charger, an OBC bypass may be required so the included lithium charger can charge the battery directly. Check your exact model and follow the kit instructions or a qualified installer's guidance.
How far will the 150Ah battery go on a charge?
Range depends on terrain, passenger weight, tire size, lift kits, controller tuning, motor condition, speed and accessory load, so there is no single figure for every cart. The battery stores 7.68kWh (7,680Wh) of nominal energy; track your own usage with the gauge and the app to learn your cart's range.
Can this battery handle upgraded aftermarket motors and controllers?
Yes, when the controller's current demand fits the battery ratings: 300A continuous, 500A for up to 15 seconds and 1,000A for up to 2 seconds. Check the controller's continuous and peak current settings, especially on upgraded or tuned controllers, and keep them within these ratings. Regenerative braking can return up to 500A for 15 seconds; the continuous charge limit is 150A.
Can I charge it in freezing weather?
Not below freezing. The battery has no internal heater, and the BMS blocks charging outside 0°C to 55°C (32°F to 131°F). Let a cold battery warm above freezing before charging. It discharges from −10°C to 55°C (14°F to 131°F).
Is the battery waterproof?
It is rated IP67 per IEC 60529: dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes. It is not rated for water jets or pressure washing; do not submerge it or leave it in standing water, and inspect the battery and connectors after any immersion.
Can I connect two batteries together?
Up to 2 matched batteries of this model can be connected in parallel (300Ah, 15.36kWh at 51.2V). Series connection is not supported. Use batteries of similar age, condition and firmware, charge each fully first, and never mix them with lead-acid batteries or other models.
Do I need to add water to this battery or winterize it?
No watering: the battery needs no watering or acid service, though routine inspections keep it operating safely (check the terminals, cables, fuses and mounting before use, and terminal tightness monthly). For off-season storage, keep the state of charge between 60% and 90%, turn the battery off and store it dry at 10–35°C (50–95°F) where practical, checking the state of charge at least every 3 months. The warranty excludes batteries left uncharged for more than three months.
What does the buzzer or a WARNING code on the gauge mean?
The BMS reports alarms and protection events on the gauge, with the buzzer and in the app. If the buzzer sounds while driving, slow down or stop and check the battery; otherwise BMS protection may shut it down. For low-voltage or low-charge warnings, stop and charge the battery. For temperature warnings, stop and let the battery return to its operating range. For over-current warnings, reduce the load and check the controller's current settings. For detection faults, MOSFET faults or a persistent cell-unbalance alarm, stop using the battery and contact Epoch support.
Why did my battery turn off by itself?
Above 20% state of charge, the battery shuts down after 7 days without discharge; at or below 20%, after 24 hours. Press the on/off switch twice to restart: once to reset the switch and once to turn the battery on.
What does the warranty cover?
The BB51150A-Kit-1 is backed by an 11-year limited warranty (5 years of free repair or replacement, then 40% off MSRP on a replacement battery through Year 11) covering qualifying defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, subject to Epoch Batteries' warranty terms, model-specific remedy schedule and claim procedures. Proof of ownership is required for any claim, and coverage is non-transferable: it applies only to the original purchaser. Coverage starts on your purchase date. Register within 90 days at epochbatteries.com/pages/product-registration or keep your proof of purchase; if you have neither, coverage starts on the manufacturing date. The full terms at epochbatteries.com/pages/11-year-warranty govern coverage, remedies and exclusions.
